Motorcyclists without helmets injured in crash

Police said two people were injured when the motorcycle they were riding hit a deer in Muscatine County, Iowa.

Police said two people were injured when the motorcycle they were riding hit a deer in Muscatine County, Iowa.

The crash was reported just after 10 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2012 just south of the intersection of Highway 61 and Highway 22. 

The motorcycle was reportedly northbound when it struck a deer.  No other vehicles were involved.

Police said Dennis Lamar, 44, of West Liberty, Iowa was the driver and owner of the motorcycle.  He was transported by helicopter ambulance to a hospital in Iowa City.

His passenger, 42-year-old Tammy Giamba of West Liberty was taken by ground ambulance to a local  hospital.

Police said Lamar and Giamba were not wearing helmets prior to the crash.
