Friday marks two weeks since two eastern Iowa cousins disappeared.
Investigators say 8-year-old Elizabeth Collins and 10-year-old Lyric Cook were abducted from Evansdale on July 13th.
The initial search for the girls focused Meyers Lake, near where the girls’ bikes were discovered. The lake was partially drained and an FBI dive team used sonar during the search, but the girls were not located in the lake.
The FBI believes the girls are still alive, but have not released any information on the evidence that led them to that conclusion.
Attorney Tom Ferguson wants to take a closer look at an interview by KWWL with Misty-Cook Morrissey and Wylma Cook, the mother and grandmother of Lyric.
KWWL is the NBC station based in Waterloo, the station says it was served a subpoena for any raw or unedited video of the interview with the two women.
The subpoena says KWWL may have knowledge regarding a criminal offense which occurred in Black Hawk County on or about July 13. The interview was taken July 20th, a week after the girls disappeared.
Cook’s father, Dan Morrissey, was set to appear in court on unrelated drug and domestic abuse charges Friday. But, the Associated Press reports a judge has delayed that hearing until August 28th.
Lyric Cook’s parents briefly stopped cooperating with investigators in the case after they felt they were being treated like suspects because of their past criminal histories.
