Man escapes Burlington house fire

A fire that started in the laundry room of a Burlington, Iowa home caused about $20,000 in damage to the home.

Firefighters said Dean Miller was home with his two cats when fire broke out in the laundry room of his home on South 13th Street at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012.

Firefighters said smoke was coming from the house when they arrived.  They were able to keep the fire confined to the laundry room.

Mr. Miller and the animals escaped unharmed.

The cause of the fire was not yet determined.
