The body of a Pella, Iowa man who was believed to have drowned in Lake Red Rock has reportedly been recovered.
WHO.com reports the Marion County Sheriff’s Office says the body of 25-year-old Derek Long was discovered Wednesday morning, July 25, 2012 by a woman walking her dog. Officials say they were called just before 6:30 a.m. by a woman who lived at Dutchman’s Landing south.
Long was last seen Sunday afternoon while trying to help his six-year-old stepson back to a pontoon after the boy began floating away.
The boy made it back to the boat but Long went under the water and did not resurface.
