More than 14,000 people reportedly signed up for the online courses within the first 24 hours they were available.

The university is offering several free online classes.  They don’t count toward a degree, but the university could issue certificates for completing the classes.

Free classes include programming for smart phones, computer science, organic chemistry and planet earth.
