Camanche man charged with attempted murder

A man who allegedly held his wife against her will is now facing kidnapping, domestic assault and attempted murder charges.

A man who allegedly held his wife against her will is now facing kidnapping, domestic assault and attempted murder charges.

Police were called to a reported domestic dispute at a home in Camanche, Iowa July 7, 2012.  Read and watch that story – click here.

A female victim there reportedly suffered cuts to her head, throat and hand.  Police said she was assaulted and held against her will by Arthur Walker, 52, of Camanche.

Police said Walker barricaded himself inside a house when they arrived.  Walker was reportedly armed with a knife and threatened to hurt himself and others.

After nearly three hours, Walker was taken into police custody.   

Charges against Walker were amended at a hearing Tuesday, July 17, 2012.  Walker is charged with attempted murder, first-degree kidnapping and second-degree sexual abuse.  He was previously appointed a public defender. 

Walker is next scheduled to be arraigned July 25, 2012 at 8:30 a.m.   He was held without bond in the Clinton County Jail.
