Road work blocks lanes and ramps at I-74 & John Deere Road

Contractors will block ramps and lanes as they repair and resurface John Deere Road over Interstate 74 from July 16 to mid-September.

Contractors will block ramps and lanes as they repair and resurface John Deere Road over Interstate 74 in Moline.

Traffic will be reduced to one open lane in each direction on John Deere Road at I-74.

"We're going to start patching the bridge structure," IDOT Engineer Jeremiah Houtekier said. "We're going to be putting in new joints. We're going to raise the deck two and a half inches and put in an asphalt overlay."

The ramp from westbound (northbound or Iowa-bound) I-74 to westbound John Deere Road was closed by Monday evening.  The ramp from eastbound (southbound) I-74 to eastbound John Deere Road is expected to be closed for the second half of the project.

The work begins Monday, July 16, 2012 and is expected to be done by mid-September.  Drivers should expect delays. Each half of the project is supposed to last about five to six weeks.
