A Muscatine, Iowa woman is charged with felony possession of contraband after she allegedly tried to smuggle makeup and other beauty items into the county jail.

Patricia Vogt, 54, was charged with third-degree theft in April 2012.  Court records show she pleaded guilty to the charge in June and she was sentenced to 120 days in the Muscatine County Jail, of which she was to actually serve 14 days.  She was also ordered to pay $50 per month and to seek treatment for kleptomania and post-traumatic stress disorder.

When Vogt was checked in July 10 to begin serving her sentence, jail officials said they found personal care and beauty items concealed beneath her breasts under her clothes.  The items included makeup, hair ties, earrings and a mirror.

The items are considered contraband in the jail, and Vogt was charged with felony possession of contraband.

Vogt was held in the Muscatine County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.  Her next court appearance on the contraband case was set for July 31.
