Police says two people found dead in a house fire last week in Aledo were not actually killed by the fire.

Mercer County coroner Ron McNall says some mysterious things took place prior to the house fire, adding that investigators are still piecing things together.

McNall identified Timothy Meade, 53, as one of the people found dead in the home.

The other victim, Patricia Jo Lindquist, 40, who owned the home at 1275 200th St. was identified Friday.

First responders were called to Lindquist’s home Thursday afternoon as the first floor was fully engulfed with fire.

Crews remained on scene until Thursday at about 8 p.m.

The deaths remain under investigation by Illinois State Police, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office.
