A 15-year-old boy injured when he reportedly fell from a farm vehicle in Whiteside County, Illinois has died.
The accident was reported just after 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 at a family farm on Hoover Road just south of Deer Grove. Our news partners at the Bureau County Republican report the farm was owned by a family member and not by the boy’s parents.
Curvin Levi Kropf, 15, was reportedly working with several other people in a seed corn field when he fell from a farm vehicle and was then run over by the machine.
He was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Sterling and later airlifted to a hospital in Rockford, Illinois where he later died.
An investigator from the federal Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) went to the accident scene but determined the agency had no jurisdiction in the matter because the farm employs fewer than ten people.
