Niabi Zoo is holding a contest to name the most-recent addition to their giraffe family.

The 152-pound male giraffe was born Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 2:59 a.m.

Before the male, Miya was the last giraffe born at Niabi Zoo in September 2011.

The contest to name the new male giraffe is open to zoo visitors, who will be asked to choose between three names by donating pocket change to a jar bearing their favorite name.

The money collected will go toward efforts to build a new elephant enclosure at Niabi Zoo.

The three names from which visitors can choose are Jabali (it means ‘strong as a rock’), Wally, and Kofi (it means ‘born on a Friday’).

The jars are set up in front of the indoor giraffe viewing area.  The contest is open for the entire month of July, and the winning name will be announced August 1, 2012.
