A 25-year-old father faces child endangerment charges after the man said he was too stressed to deal with his kids.

The children’s grandparents reportedly called police after they tried to take the kids to their father, Byran Powe, and he refused to answer the door of his Iowa City, Iowa home.  It happened June 11, 2012, the day after Powe’s birthday.

The grandparents were reportedly concerned for one of the kids who appeared to have swelling and hives after suffering a bee sting or bug bite.  Paramedics called to the home determined the child needed to see a doctor for treatment.   Doctors needed parental consent to treat the child.

Powe reportedly continued to refuse to answer the door after paramedics and police arrived.

KCRG reports when police finally went into Powe’s home, he told them he was “too stressed to deal with his kids today.”

Powe was charged with child endangerment.  He made his initial appearance in court Friday, June 29, 2012.  Online records indicated he was under supervision from Community Based Corrections.

The child received medical treatment.
