Muscatine man sentenced for escape

An Iowa man previously convicted of threatening the president was sentenced for escaping from federal custody.

An Iowa man previously convicted of threatening the president was sentenced for escaping from federal custody.

Quinten Truitt, 29, of Muscatine, was serving 47 months in prison for making threats against President George Bush and members of the president’s family.   He was scheduled to be released from custody May 23, 2011.

On April 20, 2011, Truitt checked out of the work release center in Davenport, Iowa to attend an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting about eight blocks from the center.  He never returned.

Truitt was found in Muscatine just after midnight April 26, 2011.  He had removed his GPS ankle bracelet and left it in Iowa City. 

Truitt was sentenced June 27, 2012 to 15 months in prison for one count of escape from federal custody.
