Cooling Centers Open in Quad Cities

Several places around the Quad Cities are helping people beat the heat.

Christian Care, located at 2209 3rd Avenue in Rock Island, is open from 6:30am to 7:00pm for anyone who needs to cool off.

The Figge Art Museum, located at 225 West Second Street in downtown Davenport, is also opening its doors as a cooling center by offering free admission today and tomorrow. The Figge is open from 10:00am to 9:00pm on Thursday and 10:00am to 5:00pm on Friday.

The South Moline Township Senior Center at 637 17th Avenue in East Moline, Illinois is open as a cooling center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

More than 120 cooling centers are open around Illinois in order to help those without air conditioning find some relief from the heat. In the Quad Cities, the offices at the Illinois Department of Human Services, located at 4711 44th Street and 500 42nd Street in Rock Island, are both open to the public during regular business hours, from 8:30am to 5:00pm.
