United Way starts Read Mob
More than 100 United Way volunteers spent Thursday reading one-on-one to Quad City-area children to encourage a love of reading.
The groups were called “Read Mobs”, and it was all part of the United Way Day of Reading.
The groups gathered at Skip-A-Long in Davenport, Iowa and at the YWCA on 16th Street in Rock Island, Illinois.
The event partners young leaders, youth and community members with young children to help the kids better prepare for kindergarten.
The United Way Young Leaders Movement works to spark lasting change in education in our community.
The next big event in our area for United Way is their Day of Caring, set for Wednesday, August 29, 2012. To register or get more information, go to http://unitedwayqc.org/html/2011DOC.html
