May 2012 was the best May for home sales in Illinois since 2007.
The Illinois Association of Realtors says 11,984 homes sold in May 2012 in the state, compared with 9,815 for the same month last year.
Jo Daviess and Rock Island counties are among those showing year-to-year home sales increases in May 2012.
In May 2007, 14,493 homes sold in Illinois.
Home prices are also up 3.6 percent year-to-year, to $145,000 for the statewide median price of a home. Median home prices are up more than $22,000 since January. Jo Daviess and Rock Island counties are among those showing year-to-year home price increases in May 2012. The median home price in Jo Daviess County is up 13.1 percent to $142,500. The median home price in Rock Island County is up 7.8 percent to $88,678.
