It's going to be shop until you drop in Wataga this weekend. That's where the Knox County village of about 850 residents is multiplying.

Cheryl Bates from Green Valley, Illinois, is one of those visitors. She's finding everything from kitsch to collectables.

"I've got a birdhouse," she said. "You never have too many birdhouses."

There's really more on Route 34. Dozens of communities join forces for the annual get-together on Friday and Saturday. There's 100 miles of sales reaching from Galesburg to Aurora. As the sellers say,  there's something for everyone.

"They come for fun," said Carol Schroeder, a seller from Cambridge. "They're looking for bargains. Something they need. A lot of times, they'll buy something they don't need."

It's really more than a yard sale for Wataga. This is a community reunion. Folks come from far and wide to enjoy the hometown atmosphere. The event seems to get bigger each year.

"If they like a particular community, stay there for a while," said Tourism Director Judy Guenseth. "Get tired of it, move on down the highway."

It's a bargain hunters paradise along Route 34. Whether trash or treasures, there's enough sales to keep shoppers in the hunt all day long.

From the heart of Knox County, it becomes like one big neighborhood. Table to table, it's just a good-time shopping spree.

"Everybody's just looking for their own piece of gold," said Davenport seller Kathy Buck.

In addition to the shopping, there's plenty of food and entertainment along the way. The fun runs all day Saturday in communities along Route 34 in Illinois.

"They're very welcoming," Bates concluded. "I enjoy it."
