Senators have agreed to pare back the number of new amendments to the bill

WASHINGTON, DC - Senators may have come to an agreement that could speed up passage of the 2012 Farm Bill in the upper House.

Agriculture Committee chairwoman Debbie Stabenow says Senators have agreed to pare back the number of new amendments to the bill.

Some 250 amendments have been offered to what the Senate Ag Committee presented.
Stabenow said last night that number has been pared to about 40 amendments.
Senator Stabenow says the Farm Bill could be open to floor debate as early as next week.

Schulte Named to FFA Board

A Rock Island County student has been selected an officer of the state's Future Farmers of America organization.

18-year old Tyson Schulte of Milan was elected treasurer of the Illinois F.F.A during the group's convention Wednesday night.

Schulte is a member of the Sherrard F.F.A chapter.
