(CNN) — “Private Practice” star Kate Walsh is ready to hang up her scrubs.

After weeks of speculation the actress has confirmed that she’s leaving the ABC medical drama at the end of the next season.

She delivered the (bad) news in person to talk show host and reality star Bethenny Frankel in a full interview that will air today.

“This is my last season for ‘Private Practice,’ yes,” she said on Frankel’s new Fox show Tuesday. “It’s been an incredible journey and an amazing ride. It’s been a long time being Addison and I feel incredibly grateful to [show creator] Shonda Rhimes and all the fans. “

“I’m really excited about the last season,” she added.

It wasn’t an unexpected announcement. Word that Walsh was jumping ship first began spreading in late May when the network announced it was only ordering 13 episodes for its sixth season.

Her fellow cast member Tim Daly also announced last month that his time on the “Grey’s Anatomy” spin-off was up.

“Wonderful fans of PP. Shonda informed my agent today that Pete wont be returning for season 6,” he said via Twitter. “It was a great 5 yrs. R.I.P. Pete Wilder,” he said of his character on the show.

Rhimes has hinted that budget cuts may have played a role in her decision to end Daly’s time with the series but it’s not known if this was also the case for Walsh. “There’s a lot of budgetary issues on that show,” she told TV Guide recently. “We need to make sure the show is viable and that we can produce it.”
