An Eldridge teen suffered life-threatening injuries when he was ejected from an SUV as it rolled in a crash.
The crash was reported just after 10 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2012.
Police said Justin Messer, 17, was a passenger in a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 18-year-old Eric Hermiston of Donahue, Iowa.
Hermiston was driving the SUV in a sand pit commonly used by ATVs and 4x4s on private property near the 29500 block of Scott Park Road in Scott County, Iowa.
Police said Hermiston lost control and his vehicle fell off a two-foot drop-off and rolled. Messer was ejected as the vehicle overturned.
Messer was taken by helicopter ambulance to a hospital in Iowa City. He was last listed in critical condition.
Police said Hermiston was not injured. Neither of the teens wore a seat belt.
Police said Hermiston was tested and cited for a .02 alcohol violation.
