A body was reportedly found near the shore of the Mississippi River at Eagles Landing Park in Bettendorf, Iowa.

The discovery was reported just after 11 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2012.  Initial reports indicated the body was about 150 yards down-river from the boat ramp at the park.

A citizen reportedly told a nearby mailman of the discovery and the mailman reported it to law enforcement.

The body was reportedly found floating face-down in the water.

Police said the body was that of a white man.  There was no indication whether the body might be a man who disappeared in the river over the weekend.

Emergency responders and the coroner’s office were sent to the scene.  The body was out of the water by noon and was taken to an area hospital for identification.
