Overturned semi closes westbound I-280

A tractor-trailer overturned, scattering scrap metal on the westbound lanes of Interstate 280 at the I-74 exit Tuesday, June 5, 2012.

The wreck happened at about 10:45 a.m.

The driver reportedly got out of the rig safely and was up and moving at the crash scene.

No other vehicles were involved.

Westbound I-280 was blocked when the load of scrap metal carried in the trailer was dumped onto the road.

Police said all lanes reopened just after 1:30 p.m.
