Jackson Kane is the next  high school senior selected to win this year’s S.O.A.R. Scholarship.

Jackson graduated from Monmouth-Roseville High School and plans to attend Bradley University.

After losing his older brother in 2006 to Leukemia, Jackson learned "how to grab every day and live life to the fullest."

Jackson plans to study Sports Communication at Bradley and hopes to continue to help make a difference for kids with cancer.

Each winner receives a $500 scholarship to be used toward further education and training.

To qualify, applicants submitted essay answers to questions geared at describing their S.O.A.R. characteristics, which are:

S – Strength
O – Optimism
A – Achievement
R – Resolve

The scholarships were awarded through a partnership between News 8 and The Sedona Group.

The Sedona Group believes that supporting young adults in their education and training after high school is a key part of keeping our workforce and community competitive.
