Danielle Porter is the first of five high school seniors to win this year’s S.O.A.R. Scholarship.
The Davenport teen expressed special gratitude to her mom.
Each winner receives a $500 scholarship to be used toward further education and training.
To qualify, applicants submitted essay answers to questions geared at describing their S.O.A.R. characteristics, which are:
S – Strength
O – Optimism
A – Achievement
R – Resolve
The scholarships were awarded through a partnership between News 8 and The Sedona Group.
