Ag in the AM: Iowa’s Future Farmers Want to Stay in Iowa

Four out of five Iowa F.F.A members planned to get a college degree

DES MOINES, Iowa -A survey of nearly 200 Iowa Future Farmers of America members found a growing number of them want to stay in the state

The survey finds 94 percent want to pursue an ag-related career. That's up from 77 percent seven years ago.

The Coalition to Support Iowa Farmers conducted the report.

It found that four out of five Iowa F.F.A members planned to get a college degree and 90-percent plan to stay in the state.

The survey also found that almost half of the F.F.A members believe high start-up costs are their biggest barrier to starting a farm career in Iowa.
