For the second consecutive year, the Legends of Iowa will hold sports camps and a banquet to benefit kids in the Quad Cities area.

The organization holds two sports camps:  a Kids Camp for kids entering first through fifth grades in the fall of 2012 and a Legends Camp for kids entering sixth through 12th grades in the fall of 2012.  The camps focus on football skill development as well as building character, leadership skills, nutrition awareness and drug and alcohol awareness.

“The mission of the ‘Legends of Iowa’ Football Camp is to provide young student athletes with positive instruction in athletic and social development to help them be successful on the playing field and in the game of life,” according to the organization’s website.

WQAD News 8 is the official television station of the Legends of Iowa.  Sports Director Matt Randazzo will emcee the banquet. The event features a reception and silent auction and a chance for you to interact with former Hawkeye football players who coach the camps.  Former NFL quarterback Chuck Long and current Indianapolis Colts player Pat Angerer are among the former Hawkeyes involved with Legends of Iowa.
