DES MOINES, Iowa - Crops in Iowa and Illinois are in good shape though more rain would be a welcome sign.
Iowa's corn crop is about 11-days ahead of normal with 95-percent of the corn emerging in fields. It's about the same story in Illinois.
Three quarters of Iowa farmers (77%) say their corn crop is in good to excellent shape. Two thirds of Illinois corn farmers (66%) say the same thing.
The real problem now is with the rain. Almost two thirds of all eastern Iowa (66%) and northwest Illinois (59%) farmers say soil moisture is short to very short.
