DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa's strawberry crop is ripening a little earlier than usual.
Iowa Agriculture Secretary Bill Northey says the state is entering prime strawberry picking season right now.
Strawberry and apple farmers farmers felt the impact of a cool April but the state Ag Department says farmers are reporting a good crop.
Earlier this month, an Iowa state horticulturalist predicted farmers could lose about 20-percent of the strawberry crop due to the cold snap seen in April.
