Rodent causes power outage at Arsenal

A rodent is blamed for several buildings at the Rock Island Arsenal losing electricity Tuesday morning, May 22, 2012.

The power outage started at about 7 a.m. and lasted about a half hour.  Some reports indicated people were stuck in elevators when the power was lost.

A spokesman for the Arsenal said “a rodent caused a problem with one of the Arsenal’s power substations.”

The substation was back online by about 7:30 a.m.
