Ag in the AM: Ag Committee Finishes Farm Bill Hearings

The last of the committee hearings for the House version of the 2012 Farm Bill was held Friday

WASHINGTON, DC - The hearings are over... now the writing will begin.

The last of the committee hearings for the House version of the 2012 Farm Bill was held Friday.   That series of meetings was held over two months and included a stop in Galesburg in March.

Lawmakers in the House will now write their version of the bill which is projected to make bigger farm program cuts than what's already in the Senate version.

There's no word when the work in the House will be finished or when it could hit the floor for debate.

It also appears whatever the House approves will need to go to a conference committee to hammer out differences between the House and Senate plans.
