If you were outside Sunday evening, you may have been lucky enough to catch a pretty rare sight.

For the first time in 18 years, a solar eclipse could be seen in the sky.

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the earth and sun.

People in Iowa were able to see two-thirds of the sun covered by the moon.

Sunday night’s view of the sky will be the last visible one from Iowa until 2014.

People gathered at the state capitol where telescopes were set up for people to get to experience the eclipse.
