The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops is making an official inquiry into some Girl Scouts activity and whether it is in conflict with the church.

The Associated Press reports the inquiry was announced in response to concerns about some program materials Catholics might find offensive, as well as claims that the Girl Scouts “associate with groups whose stances conflict with church teaching.”

Those assertions include allegations of direct connections with Girl Scouts and groups such as Planned Parenthood.

The inquiry follows a controversy from 2011 involving a seven-year-old transgender child, born a boy and being raised as a girl, who was accepted into a Colorado troop of Girl Scouts.
