UPDATE: Missing Peoria Children Found in Minnesota

UPDATE: Two Peoria children and their mother have been found in Minnesota after a nationwide Amber Alert was issued Thursday afternoon.

Nyway Abbaa, 19, was arrested at 8 p.m. Thursday in Minneapolis.  The children are safe and were taken into protective custody.

The father of one of the children was reportedly with Abbaa but has not yet been found.

Peoria Police say Abbaa took the children though she does not have custodial rights to either the two month old nor the one year old child.. 

PREVIOUS POSTING: An Amber Alert was issued Thursday, May 10, 2012 after a one-year-old and a two-month-old were abducted in Peoria, Illinois.

The abduction was reported just before 10:30 a.m. at 330 S.W. Washington in Peoria.  The Amber Alert was issued just after 2 p.m.

One-year-old Moriah Milan and two-month-old Audermar Peterson were reportedly taken by their non-custodial mother, Nyway Abbaa.  The three were last seen in a green Mercury wagon bearing Illinois license plate P487981.

Ms. Abbaa is 20 years old, 5-feet 9-inches tall and she weighs about 180 pounds.  She was last seen wearing an African head scarf, pink shirt and gray pants.

Moriah is 2-feet 6-inches tall and weighs 24 pounds.  She was wearing a green shirt, blue jeans and a green coat.  She also wore purple and pink Reebok shoes.

Audermar was wearing a blue and white “onesie” and a white blanket printed with blue stars.

The green car was last seen headed northbound on Hamilton in downtown Peoria.   

Anyone who sees the vehicle or knows anything about the whereabouts of Ms. Abbaa or the children is asked to call 911.
