Muscatine man gets prison sentence for damaging cars

A man who confessed to kicking in the windshields of five cars will serve up to two years in prison for his crime.

A man who confessed to kicking in the windshields of five cars will serve up to two years in prison for his crime.

Joseph Menke, 23, pleaded guilty in October 2011 to criminal mischief.

Menke was arrested ten days after he kicked in the front windshields of five cars near Seventh and Chestnut streets in Muscatine August 17, 2011.  The damage total was more than $1,000.

Menke reportedly confessed to police when he was arrested.

Muscatine County Attorney Alan Ostergren said Menke was sentenced to an indeterminate period of time in the Iowa Department of Corrections not to exceed two years.

Menke was also ordered to pay a $625 fine and to pay restitution to the victims.
