The National Weather Service determined the storm that pushed through Henry and Washington counties in Iowa included a “high-end EF2” tornado.
Damage was reported in Washington County near Crawfordsville.

A statement on the NWS website says the tornado was located “approximately one mile south of Wayland in Henry County, Iowa to 2.25 miles west-southwest of Crawfordsville in Washington County, Iowa.”
The tornado struck between 8:30 and 9 p.m. It was approximately a quarter-mile wide and traveled a path of about 4.3 miles.
An EF2 tornado has wind speeds of 111 to 130 miles per hour. This EF2 tornado had an estimated wind speed of 130 miles per hour.
Two turkey farms were destroyed and a main transmission power pole was also snapped.
“The most significant damage was noted near the end of the tornado path. Two homes lost roofs. At one of the residences a car was tumbled. Several farms lost outbuildings,” said the NWS statement.
