Police say two Burlington, Iowa men were caught with items stolen when two buildings and five vehicles were burglarized at Henningsen Construction.

The company’s plant foreman reported the burglary April 30, 2012.  He told police two buildings and five vehicles had been burglarized at Henningsen’s mobile asphalt plant on the Cessford Quarry property on Spring Lake Road.

The thieves reportedly broke a window to access one building and pried the door open on the other building.   A laptop was missing from each building.  Toolboxes, tools, a CB radio, wireless hotspots and other electronics were also reported missing.  Keys and other items were reported stolen from the vehicles involved.

Police said they contacted 32-year-old Simon Cross, a suspect in the case, who allegedly implicated 18-year-old Joshua VanSant in the burglary.  VanSant reportedly admitted to being involved, and deputies said they found some of the missing items at VanSant’s home.

Both men face seven counts of third-degree burglary.  Online records showed VanSant was free on bond and Cross was still in the Des Moines County Jail.
