A teenager accused of taking a loaded shotgun into Princeton High School pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a weapon.

Blake Schmidt, 18, was charged with a class 3 felony after he allegedly took a shotgun into PHS at about 3 p.m. November 16, 2011.  Witnesses said no threats were made and the gun was not pointed at anyone.

Students and staff were evacuated from the building, and it reportedly took negotiators about an hour to convince Schmidt to surrender.

The public defender representing Schmidt asked Judge C.J. Hollerich to review video from the school security camera before sentencing.

The judge said Schmidt could face a maximum of 30 months probation with up to six months in the Bureau County Jail, or he could face two to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections with a maximum $25,000 fine.

Sentencing is scheduled for 9 a.m. June 13, 2012.

Schmidt is free on bond.
