Crash kills Rock Falls man
A Rock Falls, Illinois man died when he was ejected from the van he was driving in rural Sterling, Illinois.
Whiteside County Sheriff’s deputies happened to find a wrecked van just before 3 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 along Hoover Road about a half-mile south of Fulfs Road.
Investigators said the van was northbound on Hoover Road when it went off the left side of the roadway, hit the end of a concrete bridge and caught fire.
The driver, 35-year-old Jay Bellini, was reportedly the only person in the van. He was ejected and found in the creek. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
