QC-style pizza voted Chicago’s best

Rock Island native Greg Mohr’s Quad Cities-style pizza was voted the “Best New Pizzeria” at Chicago’s 2012 Eat Out Awards.

Mohr has lived in Chicago for 13 years, and opened a Quad Cities-style pizzeria called “Roots” there in 2011.

Mohr says Quad Cities-style pizza has a hand-tossed malt crust with a thin and slightly spicy sauce.  Toppings, including finely-ground sausage, go under the cheese.  Finally, the pizza is cut into strips instead of slices.

Online voters chose their favorite and voted Roots the best new pizzeria in Chicago for 2012.
