Police say a woman shot in the head at a Burlington, Iowa house managed to defend herself and turn the gun on her assailant.
Police were called to a reported shooting at house at 165 S. Central Street at about 10 p.m. March 16, 2012. A Macomb man and woman, who were involved in a relationship with each other, were both there when police arrived.
Police say Jacqueline Williams, 28, was arguing with Terrell Miller, 22, on the porch of the house. That’s when Miller allegedly shot Williams once in the forehead.
Police said the pair then struggled over the gun.
“Williams gained control of the handgun and fired upon Miller hitting him in the head area several times,” said a statement from Burlington Police Chief Daniel Luttenegger.
Miller was shot six times in the head. He died as a result of those injuries.
Police had not yet completed their analysis of the gun, which was recovered at the scene.
“Unless any new information or evidence is revealed from the DCI Lab findings, the Des Moines County Attorney’s Office has declined to pursue criminal charges in this investigation,” said Chief Luttenegger.
