Rock Island residents could experience discolored water or low water pressure as public works crews work to flush the city’s fire hydrants for about a month.
The Spring Fire Hydrant Flushing Program starts at 7 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2012.
Crews flush the hydrants to maintain water quality in the fire protection system.
Brief periods of discolored water or low water pressure are normal during flushing operations.
It will take about four weeks for crews to flush the city’s hydrants.
