The Iowa State Poolplayers Association is having their state championships at the River Center in Davenport through Sunday.  At the same time, the Iowa State Square and Round Dance Convention is being held at the Waterfront Convention Center in Bettendorf.

The two events have brought 2500 to 3000 guests to the Quad Cities this weekend.  Though the groups are very different, their money spends just the same.

“We have probably picked up 30 to 40 rooms a night.  We really have seen increased business,” Del Peiffer of the Hotel Blackhawk says.

And according to Joe Taylor of the Quad Cities Convention and Visitor Bureau, these two events give the area an economic boost during a typically down time for tourism.

“April is a not prime travel season.  This is a really good time to have t his type of activity in the Quad Cities,” Taylor says.

Some may come with pool sticks and some come with their dancing shoes - either way - the Quad Cities reap the benefits.
