Analysts say human remains found by two kids riding bikes in Henry County, Iowa are those of an adult woman.

Two children found a human skull in a ditch along Old Highway 34 on Saturday, March 17, 2012.

The pair was riding from Lockridge to Rome, Iowa when they made the discovery.

More remains were found in the area by investigators called to the scene.

The remains were examined by a forensic pathologist and by the Iowa Medical Examiner’s Office, and were determined to be those of a female between the ages of 24 and 32 years old.  The woman was between 5 feet, 3 inches and 5 feet, 7 inches tall.

Examiners believe the woman died during the summer or early fall of 2011.  The cause of death has not been released.

The remains will undergo DNA testing to possibly help identify the woman.
