Former Durant Principal Monica Rouse may have her job back after the school district exhausted its options for appeals.

Wednesday, the Iowa Supreme Court decided it would not review the case. That means a Cedar County judge's ruling stands, that Rouse be reinstated.

Rouse was fired from her job as principal in 2010 amid allegations she let students graduate without sufficient credits. A judge ruled in 2011 there was no evidence to support her firing and reinstated Rouse. She tried to report back to work but was denied by the district until the appeals process had finished.

The decision by the Iowa Supreme Court ends the appeals process, but it's still unclear whether Rouse can return back to work.

Attorneys for the Durant School District didn't return calls Wednesday. Rouse told News 8 she had not heard what the court's decision meant for her employment. Rouse's attorney says she hopes to have more information this week.

Rouse said she had concerns about going back to work but would comply with the court order.
