The Iowa Department of Public Health has filed a response to a lawsuit filed by an Iowa couple over their late son’s death certificate.
Jenny and Jessica Buntemeyer filed the suit earlier this year, after their son’s death certificate came back with Jennifer’s name omitted. The couple says her name appeared to be “whited out”. The couple is legally married in Iowa. Their son Brayden was stillborn.
In their response, IDPH denied the allegations that it redacted Jennifer’s name, although it admits issuing the death certificate.
The couple is asking for a corrected death certificate for Brayden that includes both parents’ names.
