Loebsack visits Quad Cities

Iowa Congressman Dave Loebsack spent the Tuesday, April 3, 2012 getting to better know the Quad Cities and the district he hopes to represent in Washington.

Loebsack, a Democrat, is running to represent Iowa’s newly-formed second district, which includes the Quad Cities.

During his April 3 visit, Loebsack accepted a Coast Guard invitation to join them on the Mississippi River.  They gave him an update on Coast Guard operations in our area.

"I know more about the locks and the dams. I know more about the transportation that goes up and down the river, and how important it is for commerce and security for that matter,” Loebsack said.

Loebsack is running against Muscatine native Dan Dolan to represent the second district, which includes Scott and Clinton counties.

Current Iowa Quad City Congressman Bruce Braley also announced he’ll seek re-election in the newly-drawn first district.
