Alleged murderer Nicholas Sheley back in court

A pre-trial hearing was held in the murder case of Russell Reed.

Nicholas Sheley was back in the courtroom during a pre-trial hearing held in Morrison, Illinois Friday.

The hearing lasted less than 15 minutes in the first degree murder case of 93-year-old Russell Reed of Sterling.

Defense Attorney Jeremy Karlin requested and was approved $3200 to pay for a DNA analysis expert.

Karlin also made an oral motion that Nicholas Sheley be allowed to dump his yellow jumpsuit and wear street clothes for any further pretrial meetings.  Judge O’Connor denied that motion.

Karlin was also asked to provide monthly bills for his work in this case.

Sheley was convicted last September in the murder of Ronald Randall of Galesburg.  Sheley allegedly killed eight people in a killing spree back in June of 2008.
