2012 Earth Week Fair and Special Workshops for Adults, Kids and Scouts

The Earth Week Fair is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 21, 2012 at the QCCA Expo Center, 2621 4th Avenue, Rock Island. Admission to the Fair and the Workshops is free of charge. The first 200 adults through the door receive a gift certificate for a free train ride at Niabi Zoo!

Attendees can visit over 50 booths with educational information and environmental professionals. Three special workshops appropriate for adults, kids, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will be held in conjunction with the Earth Week Fair. All workshops will be held in North Hall at the QCCA Expo Center.

Special Workshops for Adults, Kids and Scouts
10:30 a.m. Get Geocaching!
John Morgan, a Quad Cities geocaching expert, will teach you how to get started with this real-world outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Attendees of this workshop are entered to win a Magellan GPS device!

12:30 p.m. What on Earth? Climate Change & Severe Weather Safety
Eddy Weiss, storm chaser, author and educator, will teach you about severe weather and severe weather safety with a “twist.” His presentation will include preparedness insights and a challenge to change your world. Attendees of this workshop are entered to win a survival kit!

2:30 p.m. Capturing Moments in Nature
Stan Bousson, a local photographer, will present tips and tricks on taking award-winning wildlife photographs. He will also discuss interesting local venues for wildlife photography and show you samples of his work. Attendees of this workshop are entered to win a Bousson print of a nesting bald eagle!
