Police said bystanders helped an Iowa trooper arrest a man who was involved in a Davenport, Iowa traffic crash.
At about 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012, police were sent to a wreck involving injuries in the 4600 block of North Brady Street.
Witnesses said a vehicle driven by Eric Tyson, 29, ran a red light and caused the crash. A 62-year-old DeWitt woman was driving the other vehicle. Police said she was not hurt.
Before Davenport Police arrived, an Iowa State Police trooper had stopped to help. That’s when one of the drivers involved reportedly tried to leave the scene of the crash.
The trooper reportedly struggled with Eric Tyson, 29, when Tyson tried to leave the scene. Police said several bystanders helped the trooper take Tyson into custody.
The trooper and Tyson both suffered minor injuries in the struggle.
Police said they found two pounds of marijuana in Tyson’s vehicle.
He is charged with assaulting a police officer, carrying a concealed weapon, operating while intoxicated, drug tax stamp violation and possession with intent to deliver marijuana.
Tyson was held in the Scott County Jail for about four hours before posting $18,000 bond.
