The town of North Henderson, Illinois lost all water service when a pump failed Wednesday night, March 21, 2012.

The failure drained all the water from the emergency tanks by six in the morning on Thursday.

Tankers were called in from neighboring towns to put 10-thousand gallons of water back into the tanks. Around six in the evening, people started to get water in their faucets.

The water is technically back on, but residents still have to conserve. They're asked to not do laundry or take long showers. They also must boil water before drinking it.

The emergency supply should last until noon Friday. By then, Mayor Jim Tucker say the new well should be in place.

More extensive repairs to the water system still need to be done. Those repairs will take 60 to 90 days.
